Your Life on Earth
This project was just asking us to make some sort of project around a philosophy we have or what we think the meaning of life is in our words. I chose just being active as my philosophy because I love skiing and biking and hope I can do it for the rest of my life but my philosophy was just doing something I love to do. I believe that the meaning to life in my words would be to end up doing something I really love like biking or skiing. This is my way of life all I want is to do something I love. I believe that my inspiration comes from all the professional skiers and bikers and seeing what they do for a living just makes me want to end up doing something like that.
I think that my view on human place in the world has changed so much I see humans as taking things we don't need from earth and killing things we don't eat or I see them as a parasite for the earth everything would do so much better on this planet if us humans weren't on it. I think that my study on philosophy and food ethics played into this belief because humans are actually not doing anything good for our planet we are killing it slowly day by day. My thinking was heavily influenced by the ethics project but I still see us as just a parasite to the earth.
How long do we have on this earth before its uninhabitable?
This is the only major thing I wonder about this and I think a lot of other people wonder this same question. I think if we could change things now before its to late and become fully sustainable then we could actually deserve to live on this earth. As of right now theres no one with high enough power to get people that can make this change thinking about why they should make this change everyone is so sucked up into the ignorant problems we've created for ourselves that no one can even think about what those problems are doing to the earth.
My Short Philosophy Essay
I believe my personal meaning of life is to do what you love for example I love to go skiing and I love to go biking so those are parts to my meaning of life. Basically my meaning of life is to do what you want to do when you want to do it and don't let other people tell you what you should and shouldn't do because people will always give you options but you are the only person that will know what you actually want to do with your life. This being said it might make it harder for you to find something you want to do because there's no people giving you ideas of what is out there for you to do so I would take some suggestions but I wouldn't let any of those suggestions guide me to do something I don't want to do.
I think that just doing things you love to do will lead you to having a great life. Of course there will be times that aren’t so good and that's just guaranteed to happen but that's part of the meaning of life because I believe everything happens for a reason so there will be bad times but they will have been bad for a reason. There will be good times but they will also happen for a reason. I think if you just live your life without fear of dying or without fear of doing wrong things and without fear of having a bad time at a certain point in your life you will have a good life because you don't think about the bad things that can happen and all you think about is the good things then you will always remember the good things and they will guide you. I believe you need to have bad experiences and good experiences to guide you to the right things in your life and if you just let your life go, however it goes I believe it will be good no matter what. I think through disease and such things of that nature you can still have a beautiful life because if you just get a disease and let yourself die you will have never known if you could have lived through it or not. Basically just dont give up because there's always a chance you'll get by even if you get a super terrible disease. Have hope because you could always get better from that disease.

"Eating is an Agricultural Act?" The Ethics of Food and Eating
During this project we were asked to read the book Omnivores Dilemma and we had to make an essay on our personal food ethics. We started just by reading the book and then I personally did a little research before trying to write my so that I could make my essay the best I possibly could. I learned so much about how different foods make you feel when doing something active. I also learned that if you were to go to Mcdonalds for a meal before you went out and did something active you wouldn't feel as good as you would've if you ate something healthy before going out.
I think that the amount of time given really effected me because I procrastinated so much with time on this writing piece. I think that the it was a good project I liked working on it in two classes because then I really got to learn about it in depth. I think that when I was studying this in chemistry it had no relation to what I was studying in humanities. The chemistry behind all of the foods just made it so hard for me to understand what was going on but when I asked for help I got a good understanding of what was happening.
I think my main takeaway from this project is how much of an affect fast food or trash food has on you when doing something active such as going to Taco Bell before a bike ride and that would make my stomach gurgle. I think my next biggest takeaway was how much eating healthy does fro your body. My thinking about food has changed juristically in the past couple weeks because this project has opened my eyes to the health in food not the taste in food. Food just used to be an every day thing I would eat but just not worry about what I ate and I woudn't notice but now that I'm older I notice how much of an affect bad food has on my body.
My Personal Food Ethics
I would never ask you to eat something you didn’t know you hated but I believe that if you haven’t tried it you can't judge how it tastes. I believe this because when I was younger I went on about how I didn’t like the purple carrots or the yellow carrots but I never tried them. I had only had the casual orange carrots. I just said I didn't like them. However when I finally grew up and tried them I liked them more then the regular carrots and I only ate those ones. They are so crunchy and always have some juice with the crunch it's just satisfying to eat. This proves my point why you shouldn’t judge a food that you haven't tried. I think the older I get the more I actually start to look into how my body feels off different types of food and this has made me want to eat healthier because I feel better when I'm doing active things while consuming something that's good for me before I do.
There is science behind you feeling better when you eat healthy. Nutrition is key for fitness proteins. All those things are going to make you feel so much better if you eat those things but in a healthy manner such as no fast food. I believe that if you want to gain muscle then you need to have a constant clean diet so this means eating healthy. With my body personally I can feel the effects of eating junk food and I never feel as good. I feel deprived of energy when I eat some junk food and then do something active. I think that trying those carrots opened my eyes to having a good diet and how important it is to have a good diet.
Doing active things all day such as biking and digging to build jumps for biking or even going skiing can be so different if you haven't fed yourself properly before you go. I've noticed that when I have just woken up I can’t eat any food because I feel terrible while eating the food but I like to wait until lunch to eat something. I have been doing a lot of work on my bike jumps recently as well. So I go out and pick up my friends and then I come back and start working. When I do so I usually don't eat something before I go out and start working. However I always get so much more worked over when I don't eat something before lunch while doing work on my jumps because I haven't put anything in my body. I really feel the effects of a non proper diet, I have started to make smoothies right when I wake up. I can always drink a smoothie and it has been working much better and I don't ever get super worked over, I feel like I can work for way longer.
When I was younger I felt like I was able to eat anything. I would go to Mcdonalds with my family and get some chicken nuggets or a burger but now I can't go there because I feel terrible after eating there. I always try to just get something from somewhere to make a sandwich or just go home to have some food there. I think that Mcdonalds has some nice priced food but the food that you are getting is so terrible for you and you are just poisoning yourself. If you just eat healthy you feel so much better and it benefits you so much more than just that. I think that when I eat healthier it's easier to gain muscle and I know that I feel better all around.
Now that I am older and more educated I know that I don't want to eat at any fast food restaurant and I want to maintain a healthy diet so I feel better. I also believe that by doing those things I will be able to gain muscle easier because I have started to workout along with doing lots of trail work to my jumps and by eating healthier I've noticed more gains in my body.
I have also always wanted to start working out. I just never had the motivation to do it. Now that we have done this project I have started to because I know that I will feel better. I think that these reasons make me sure that I want to maintain this way of life because I feel better, I make muscle gains and I don't miss a bit of the old way.

Climate Change
During this project we were asked to do research about a current event that we thought was interesting and make anything that would represent what you learned. Leit and I made a video about climate change and how it affects wildlife and ecosystems. We interviewed our freshman year physics teacher so we could get an experts view on climate change I filmed leit and he talked about climate change and the negative effects that it has on our earth. My experience at exhibition was pretty good I talked to some pretty cool people that have been doing films for a while and whose sons have been filming things. I enjoyed getting feedback from the parents because they all had really good things to say about it.
I don’t think my perspective has changed throughout this project because I’ve always believed in climate change but I feel like I might have shifted a couple peoples perspectives at exhibition with my video. I grew up with parents that supported opposite sides of governments my whole life and I feel like I have spent more time with my mom so I have more of her views as in climate change she believes in it and so do I, However my dad I haven't spent as much time with and he believes humans don't increase the rate that climate change is climbing at and he also supports the opposite sides of the government as my mom and I do. I feel like people who support conservatives also don't believe in climate change that’s what i’ve heard from all conservatives I’ve talked to. When we had the conservitave panel come into our class so we could ask them questions they all did not believe climate change.
I have learned so much about democracy during this project and how it has been slowly messing up our country up more than it already is. Our government is out of this world, it’s so messed up how much fake news is let out from them and how regulated all of our internet is so that it feeds what we want to see and keeps what we don't want to see out but that is not a good thing because if I’ve been doing research about a supporting source of a current event or even a non supporting source once I click on one of those two it will limit my feed to what side you choose so you have to search a lot harder for the counter facts for the current events. That’s just how our sources work in america and maybe anywhere you go but they feed me what they want me to believe if its fake news or not there's no test for if the facts are true or not, only certain sources will actually be telling you the truth and those sources also talk about the other sides beliefs.
My political views have changed so much I used to just support whoever my mom would but because of this project I don't know who to trust to be a good governor anymore even presidents like obama who I thought was really good was really not that good of a president because of all the things he's done that you probably never heard of. I now know to do my research on my contestants before I put a vote in so I can figure out who really would be right for our country or who would mess our country up more than it is already. It's really hard nowadays to tell whos gonna be good because every president seems like they know what they're doing but I wouldn't know until they're president that they're gonna be bad or good if it weren't for this project. This project has shaped me to be ready to vote in the coming elections.
I think the role of rogerian rhetoric is used anywhere not just in democracies but it's especially used in democracies.I believe rogerian rhetoric is used in very good ways in democracies to debate things and get to a solid understanding with the other side. I think that willingness to be disturbed is super important because that's how I can talk to someone that doesn't believe in the same thing as me and come away from it with knowledge from both sides of the argument. That's a really good skill to have because there's always going to be people that don't believe in the same thing as me and I have to accept it and try to get something out of it not just shut down and argue for no reason over who’s right and who's wrong. I think this is a super important part in a democracy because there's going to be the side that fights against what the government would say, to have a good conversation where we’re not just yelling and fighting could be very beneficial because we could actually learn something from the other sides perspective and why they believe that.

Personal Connection Essay:
Global Warming; And Its Effects on Winter
I've loved skiing ever since I stepped into a pair of skis, just being able to cruise down a slope however fast you want catching air wherever having a blast is an unreal feeling that not everyone can experience and you should feel lucky if you do get the chance to do it but our winters getting harsher means that not everybody can. This means that our winters will be so insane our houses will be covered in snow and it wont last long at all but we would have to dig tunnels to each other houses. Places that havent gotten snow in who knows how many years already got snow this year like Niagra Falls, it snowed there last week for about an hour and a half.
I’m a huge skier and winters mean a lot to me, winters getting harsher to the point where we can't even get out of our houses would be terrible. Skiing means the world to me, it's my favorite thing to do, and I would be horrified if I wouldn't be able to ski. Since last year was such an amazing year for people who love to ski and snowboard I am super excited for this season but it’s not going to be the same. Summers are warming up, winters are getting harsher and this could mean that our winters would be super intense but shorter and the summers will be hotter and drier with more chances of wildfires.
I have come to hold my opinion because I love skiing so much and I would be devastated if I wasn't able to ski because we were trapped in our house with too much snow. The summers getting hotter and drier means that there will be almost 100% chance of fires every summer and with little to no rain to help us out. I think also just living in Durango and being an outdoors kind of kid and loving to mountain bike or ski has really shaped my opinion on this topic as well. My mom also helped shape my view because I grew up with her and my dad but she had a bigger impact on the things that I did so I played sports my mom played and did things my mom did. I feel like my dad being a conservative and my mom being a liberal also helped shape my interests because I hear both sides to almost every story.
I think My friends and family have shaped my perspective because it's not just on one side I can see the other sides story as well but I know for a fact that global warming is real and there's really nothing we can do to stop it or help it. I feel like growing up skiing in a small town like durango shaped me to have my perspective because I love the winters because I ski in them and I love the summers because I can ride bikes. However harsher winters would mean little to no skiing and harsher summers would mean it's too hot for a bike ride and everything's on fire.
In conclusion, if you haven't gotten out to ski or snowboard in your life before, get out there and make it happen because soon enough we won't even remember what skiing was. We would be living in the extremes if our winters get harsher people won't be able to get to the store to feed themselves people wouldn't even get out of there house and might die over winter. Think of how devastating that could be all just in a couple of weeks or months.
