Projectile Project
My trebuchet represents the Aztec 1511 trebuchet although it doesn't have the box weight it is still the same design just without that box weight. We were really rushed so we didn't get to putting much creativity into it but it's still pretty good. W planned on painting it the same color as the real ones but we didn't have enough time so we only put the aztec sun god on the base.
Our strength was communication because we helped others and got help from others but our trebuchet was all our idea. Our weakness was creativity because it doesn't have any paint or any drawings except for the sun god on the base. |
Rube Goldberg
Rube Goldberg Reflection
The Rube Goldberg was about a series of steps doing something simple and making it as hard as possible. My rube demonstrated a wheel and axle, an inclined plane, and a pulley. My wheel and axle was the marble that we used to set off the dominoes. The inclined plane was the part the marble went down. The pulley was the part that the band aid was attached to. My rube also demonstrated speed, momentum, and inertia. It demonstrated speed when the ball was rolling down the inclined plane it was speeding. My rube also showed momentum when the marble hit the dominoes and the dominoes toppled over moving with momentum. My rube showed inertia when the marble was at a stop and we pushed it and it started rolling. If i were to drop a 7.0 gram steel ball 50 centimeters into a bucket on a pulley system. I would calculate the potential energy, which uses multiplication of mass, height, and gravity. I would convert the weight into 0.007 kilograms, and the height into 0.5 meters. The force of gravity is already 9.81 m/s2, so the problem would be 0.007 x 0.5 x 9.81, so the answer would be 0.0343 joules of potential energy. To calculate the KE=½ m(v2). (M= Mass V= velocity)
M=7g=0.007kg
V=45c/s=0.45m/s
KE=(½)(0.007kg)(0.45m/s2) = 0.00070875 J
We used a lot of refinement especially when one of our group members knocked the rube of the table. It was a good thing because it probably would have broke but I took initiative to fix it and make it stronger. I think communication was our biggest strength during this project because we used effective communication to help each other out when we needed it. I feel that creativity was our weakness because we had the most basic idea and was not creative at all.
